A Few More Quilt Paintings

Here are a few more starts I've done in the quilt-inspired series. The ladies are part of the good mother series. You can see more of them and they men they love here.
I added the little painting of York to my shop this morning... check it out! Celebrate winter solstice tomorrow and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Good Mother Series

Here's a new one I've been working on that's called 'The Good Mother' series... each one has a good dose of repetition. I'm liking just the one color I've added to the black outline... a very light aqua. It's making me think of Art Deco colors and things. (although this photo does not really do the color justice, sorry!) Not quite sure where this one is going yet but I've got a good feeling about it :)

I added 2 new paintings from the 'Quilt Series' in my shop... they're priced very well so check 'em out! I'm going to be adding a new, medium size painting tomorrow!

Quilt-ish Paintings

Here's a series I've started... I shared a few on my Musings blog but not these. I got the idea thinking about repetition and quilts of all things. I love fabric and quilt shops so it's always been an influence. I'm not sure about the colors yet but I don't want them to be too 'matchy-matchy' even though they're a series. Hopefully the subject matter will unify them. The 2nd one really turned out to be confectionery! Looks like pink chocolates to me :)

I'm hoping to finish up a few of these and put them in the etsy shop soon. All the Christmas stuff, house guests and wild card kid's needs has put me behind in completing much. (but it doesn't stop me from starting new pieces... may be a pattern there!)

Tutu Girl on Stage...

I could have a lot of fun with the title of this painting... this is just a working title. I've been looking at so many toy catalogues lately, and went to a concert the other night those are the 2 inspirations for this painting! Maybe I should do a series - hmmmm. I'm trying to finish some pieces for the etsy shop... this time of year, it's so hard to get anything finished!!!

Flower Market

I've been trying to finish this painting... it's 'decision-making time' which is harder for me than anything else! As soon as I finish it, I will post it in the etsy shop... and I might make prints or cards of it. With all the holiday cheer going on it's hard to get down to the studio and have a block of time to settle in to painting!!! Hopefully things will calm down soon... til our house guests arrive. Well, January's looking pretty good :)

A Little Painting of York

Here's a little landscape I started last night. It's a quirky view that's more of an ariel view... I'm going to have to work that out! I keep thinking about crop circles and put a few in. I should get my smaller brushes out to add more detail. I get lost in tiny details, though and become obsessed. I have a thing about England - I've actually never been, (sob) but most of my family is descended from England and Scotland. My mom is a big fan of the James Herriot books and PBS TV show- I think it was on in the 1980s. The scenes of the country side had a lasting effect on me, growing up! (and the beautiful piano theme music did as well!)
I added a very architectural piece (of San Francisco row houses drenched in the sun ) to my etsy shop. Check it out... there's a link in my blog list. Happy weekend :)

Floral Abstract

This one has been a work in progress for longer than I planned! I think I'm getting close to saying it's done. I'm really happy with the colors - mostly pinks and oranges... plus dozens of shades of green - one of my favorite colors. I think I'll be listing this in the etsy shop soon.

Welcome to my new blog!

An unfinished abstract on illustration board... I'm going to revise it and put it in the etsy shop at a special price!
I made a much needed trip to home depot and got some wood cut to paint on!! This is a very nice, sand birch plywood and another kind of wood for the smaller ones... not sure what it's called. The first photograph is The Garden Before the Tornado is now in my etsy shop! (http://www.take5paintings.etsy.com/) I'll be posting about once or twice a week... so check back soon and thanks for visiting!
